Storyline: A nurse and her surgeon-lover are part of a resistance movement in 1940s Czechoslovakia. When they are discovered, her lover flees and she must find a place to hide. A patient whose life she saved, a man from a remote mountain village where time stopped 150 years ago, agrees to hide her as his wife.

The DVD contains an addition to make movies. Some points of interest – the main characters are the different language groups and may in fact not informed that the film was made – the Czech woman, I think, the Hungarian man. The film has had a year to the average movie, so that the change of seasons and it has been shown that young people are so important to cinema in general, could credibly age. The actors were aged 6 days – the birth scene – to 92 -. The old woman in the scene in the early fall when the resistance does not comment

This beautiful film comes too late, after being nominated for best foreign film of 2003! Important European films do not have the largest market in America should have, even if this is better than a little ‘local cuisine. Director Ondrej Trojan should be commended for what he did with this film.
The story begins in 1943, when Europe was in progress in one of the worst moments of the Second World War. Germans are everywhere and the Gestapo is the instrument to eliminate the people who work in the resistance. When the young medical student and a nurse Eliska is found to be in danger, she is sent to the country with one of the patients, who took care in hospital. Thus begins the saga of a woman who has to hide, or go to jail, or possibly death.
The film then moves to a bucolic setting where Joza, the farmer who was kind enough to take his farm Eliska, agrees to marry him in conspiracy with the priest and the teacher. This part of the country is Catholic and rear. There is a hypocrisy in the way the teacher and priest keep a closed eye on what are the local farmers. On the one hand, farmers seem to be loving people of God, but live lives dominated by alcohol, rape, incest and other offenses. None of questions.
Joza to marriage as a sign of gratitude for the nurse who helped heal his wounds. Then gradually falls in love with a woman who is completely different from him. In turn, Hana, as it is now called, begins to see the quality in Joza is taken for granted. Their love is sincere.

country where it was filmed is so beautiful that it makes you wonder how could war have been conducted in such an environment. The image of beautiful photography brings us back to those sad years of the war, and what this country has suffered as a Soviet satellite nation.
